An investigation has been launched after a man was approached by a group of armed suspects who announced they were robbing him as he parked his car in the garage of his Rockville apartment complex.
The armed robbery was reported at approximately 1:25 a.m. on Monday, July 10 on Key West Avenue in Rockville.
Police say that the suspects stabbed and assaulted the man before tying his hands behind his back with zip ties. He was then forced into their vehicle after being forced to give them access to his apartment.
A safe was taken that contained an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry. Investigators noted that at the time of the robbery, other family members were inside the apartment, though they were not injured.
The stab victim was taken to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Video of the robbery inside the apartment building and the victim's home was released by detectives on Wednesday, July 19.
One of the suspects was described as being a Black man in his 20s who had curly hair, a medium build and was wearing a black ski mask and black clothing. The others were described as Black men in their 20s who were armed with handguns wearing all black.
